Tournament FAQs
Do you guys hold tournaments for [name of game]?
Currently, we are planning tournaments for Counterstrike: Condition Zero / Source, Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. If you have a particular game that you want to see featured in a tourney, please leave your suggestion at the forum. We base our decision to have a tourney based on a game's demand and usage in the shop.
How do your tournaments work?
We're actually planning on having tournament series' where teams / players compete in multiple tournaments to gain a ranking. Minor prizes are awarded for wins during the weekly meets, but the large prizes are granted to the highest ranking team at the end of the series. Series' will probably last about 2 months. The different tourney series' will begin by summer of 2005.
What are the rules for your tourneys?
We adopt rules to ensure good balance and fairness for all participants. Whenever possible, we use international competition rules, or as much of them as we can use. If you research the rules of tournaments sanctioned by the specific manufacturer of the game you are intereseted in, most likely, we'll be using those rules, or a version of it modified to better suit the conditions at GameFrog.
What are the prizes for tournaments?
Prizes have not yet been determined as we are in the process of looking for sponsors. Ideally, we would prefer gaming-related merchandise as prizes. Who wouldn't want an ATI Radeon X900 as a prize? (drool).
I'm not too good at these games, do you have minor tourneys?
Yes, we understand that not everyone is into ultra-competitive tournaments, but would still enjoy competing with strangers in certain games. Your best bet would be to join our FrogStomp parties. These parties revolve around none-too-serious events with none-too-serious prizes (like bags of chicharon). Otherwise, you can post on the forums to ask if anyone would like to hold a friendly meet for the game you're interested in. We'd gladly help you out with regard to the technical requirements of these meets.
I'm a tournament organizer, are you guys open to collaborating on a tourney event?
Yes, we're interested in anything that would be fun for our members and customers. Please do contact us so we can sit down and discuss how best we can work with you.
