Online   Dawn of the Ancients   Vital SignVital Sign is an first-person shooter that is run exclusively online. Think of it as a cross between Counterstrike, Quake, and Gunbound. With servers based in Singapore, Vital Sign lets you hold fragfests with other players within the Philippines regardless of where they are. All you need is the Vital Sign client, and a fast and stable internet connection. Vital Sign features a considerable arsenal of weaponry to choose from, as well as numerous maps wherein to hold your fragfests. Vital Sign is currently in open beta in the Philippines, so for now, you can actually play for free! The Points ConceptMuch like Gunbound, logging into Vital Sign brings you to what looks like a basic chat interface. From here you can create games and invite people to join your game. Once you've got the number of players you want, you can start the game and start blasting each other to bits. Successfully finishing off opponents earns you points in the game that you can exchange for armaments and ammunition. Whether you'll be able to use prepaid cards to bolster your points is uncertain at this point since Vital Sign is still in free open beta. Always someone to fragThis game seems to be targetted squarely at the Counterstrike market. The client is free, and allows you to play online where there is always someone to play against--not usually the case if you go to an internet cafe looking for someone to play against in CS. If you're cafe has legal copies of Counterstrike (like GameFrog does!), then the difference is moot, since you can easily play online against the legion of CS players around the world. But then again, for Vital Sign, you don't have to pay for the client... so it seems that the guys behind VS are on to something here. Summary: a nice take on the FPS genre, featuring dedicated online play.
